Today as we listen to Gord Downie’s music on the second anniversary of his death, we are reminded of what he left us- poignant lyrics, songs that guided us through, and the story of Chanie Wenjack told like it never was before.
While our thoughts continue to be with his family, friends, and the music community in this country, this week is now known as Secret Path Week. Which runs from today until Tuesday, October 22.
In recognition of this, the Belleville Public Library will be hosting a free event tonight at 6 p.m. Downie’s Secret Path album will be performed by Gavin Foster. The concert will also feature stories about the impact and legacy of residential schools, including the story of Chanie Wenjack- who like many, never made it home.
