Quinte West Councillor Sally Freeman has passed away.
Freeman had been currently serving this term for the Trenton ward. She had been a member of council since the 1990s, before Quinte West amalgamated. She ran for mayor once.
She is being remembered this week as a passionate advocate for the Trenton Memorial Hospice, local YMCA, and for first responders.
“Councillor Freeman was a dedicated advocate for our community, whose kindness and commitment touched the lives of many. She leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication as seen in the many important initiatives and milestones she has contributed to through the years. She will be greatly missed,” said Mayor Jim Harrison, in a statement this morning.
Flags across City buildings are down at half-mast. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
Quinte West has announced that a book of condolence will be available at the Trenton City Hall lobby starting tomorrow. Residents can also leave messages online at, getinvolved.quintewest.ca.
