The City of Belleville has revealed a new short-term accommodation by-law.
Changes will formally be in place as of December 1st. Following public consultations, the City has taken steps to formally review and update rules around noise and property standards among other items.
Here’s the list of changes that staff have announced today in a statement:
- Increased insurance coverage requirement to $5 million
- Reduced total number of licenses allowed in the city to 130 (down from 150)
- New required code of conduct for licensees
- New designation of bed and breakfasts as Owner-Occupied STAs (formerly under the Business Licensing By-law)
- New designated appeal body
- Updates to licensing fees (increases to renewals and Owner-Occupied STA licensing)
- General languages changes to improve readability and understanding.
