We could see up to 20cm of snow by the end of the day!
Tri-Board Transportation has cancelled school buses in the southern part of Quinte today, including Belleville, Quinte West, Prince Edward County and Napanee.
School buses are only running in North Hastings, North Lennox and Addington, and North and Central Frontenac.
Schools in Belleville, Quinte West, and Napanee/Kingston area remain open for families.
Hastings Prince Edward District School Board has announced that all schools in Prince Edward County are closed due to the potential for a blizzard in the afternoon with up to 40 cm of snow.
Here in Belleville, Environment Canada has the region under a snow squall warning. Blowing snow is expected to start this afternoon, with up to 10 to 15 cm in the forecast. High of -6 Celsius. Another 5 cm of snow overnight with a low of -12 Celsius.
Risk of snow squalls will linger until Tuesday morning.
Loyalist College is open today and Belleville Transit buses are running as scheduled.
Closures for today:
-FNTI in Tyendinaga
-County Transit is suspending it route early today. The last bus from Belleville to Picton at 6:05 is cancelled. Service will end in Belleville at 5:55pm today.
-Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre has cancelled all city programs after 1pm (including fitness, gymnasium, children’s programs, recreational skating, all pool programs and private pool rentals). Facility & ice rentals will proceed, but participants should check with their organization or group to confirm. The QSWC remains open to the public. The Indoor Track and customer service desk will remain open,
-The Roc Youth Centre
-Belleville Senators box office
-Immunization clinic at the Southeast Public Health’s office in Napanee
-Quinte Field Naturalist’s meeting tonight at the Maranatha Church in Belleville
