The union representing local paramedics, is looking for the community to come together.
CUPE 1842 issued a statement last night, following the serious collision involving two local paramedics in Madoc on Monday.
The union says that the two paramedics are now facing a long road to recovery.
Local union rep Samantha DeHaan says that since the incident, the donations and quiet acts of kindness by the community have been deeply felt across the entire service.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for the two injured paramedics with a goal of $180,000. As of this morning, just over $130,00 has been raised.
The two paramedics were involved in a collision with a transport truck, Monday at the at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 62.
The female paramedic was airlifted to the Kingston trauma centre. While the male paramedic was conscious at the scene, and able to leave and check on others in the truck. He was later sent to hospital with injuries.
According to the online post, the male paramedic was discharged from the Kingston hospital yesterday, while the other remains in critical condition in the ICU.
The OPP continue to investigate.
