The Ontario SPCA has launched their annual No Hot Pets campaign.
Pet owners are encourage to take an online pledge, and commit to never leaving their animal unattended in a vehicle.
Those who take the pledge will be entered to win a YETI prize pack.
A variety of social media graphics and care tips can be found on the website, nohotpets.ca.
The Ontario SPCA adds in a statement that:
Hot weather dangers aren’t limited to parked cars. Animals left outside without shade or fresh water can overheat quickly, leading to heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
If you see an animal in distress due to the heat, act quickly. Call Provincial Animal Welfare Services at 1-833-9ANIMAL or your local police. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
