The City of Quinte West has opened the cooling centre today inside the Duncan McDonald Memorial Arena in Trenton.
Residents are encouraged to take a break from the heat in the centre from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The centre will be open daily until at least Sunday, given the forecast.
Quinte West activates the cooling centre when there are two consecutive days of temperatures of 31 degrees or higher or humidex values of 35 degrees Celsius or higher.
Splash pads are also open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in both Trenton and Frankford.
