Prince Edward County OPP have issued a few reminders about more people get outside and hit the trails.
Police say that they have been receiving complaints about off road vehicles, including in the Milford area.
Here’s the message from police today:
“While a twelve-sixteen year old can operate an ORV in certain circumstances, there are inherent risks associated with operating ORV’s and this activity should be done with caution. To operate an ORV on a highway, the operator must be at least sixteen years of age with a valid driver’s licence. In addition, anyone operating an ORV on a trail or highway must obey the appropriate laws including wearing a helmet, having registration and proof of insurance.
Familiarize yourself with ORV speed limits and local regulations such as Millennium Trail restrictions.
As mentioned, the Highway Traffic Act also applies which includes things like careless driving and performing stunts while on an ORV.
Remember- there is zero tolerance for alcohol for novice drivers.
Prince Edward County OPP will be conducting ongoing patrols in the area to ensure compliance.
