2020 was a year of change for Kawartha Lakes’ band, Heaps.
The group who originally started as The Kents in 2011, changed their name at the start of the year.
Then later in the summer, the band consisting of Warren Frank, fellow guitarist Fred Kwon, drummer Tanner Pare, and bassist Luke Shauf released their debut album.
While the band is embracing their new name and direction, this week they announced that they will no longer continue the journey with Shauf.
“Luke’s been with us since the very beginning, back in grade 11 guitar class at I.E. Weldon SS. We’re very thankful that he was a part of the journey with us so far. A hard worker and an intentional creator, he always pushed The Kents/Heaps to fight for the best version of whatever we were creating. It couldn’t have been anyone else,” they wrote on Instagram.
Their song “You Where There” was #7 on our Top Indie 10 Indie Countdown of 2020. We’d like to wish Luke and Heaps all the best this year.
