The Wellington Dukes have announced a trade as the future of the Ontario Junior Hockey League season remains uncertain.
Veteran player Ben Woodhouse has been traded to the BCHL, to play for the Chilliwack Chiefs.
The Dukes will receive future considerations in exchange for the 21-year-old forward.
“Ben wanted to stay in Wellington. He is a leader and a three year player for our program. He is a Duke, he will always be a Duke, and we will continue to support him in any way we can. Ben has an opportunity with Chilliwack to get on the ice right away and hopefully play. Like the Wellington Dukes, Chilliwack is one of the top programs in the country. We want to thank Ben and wish him the best in pursuit of his dreams” said Todd Reid, GM for the Dukes.
Woodhouse led the Dukes with 15 points in 8 games, during an exhibition series against the Trenton Golden Hawks a few months ago.
Ontario is currently under a stay-at-home order due to the rising cases of COVID-19. The Ontario Junior Hockey League has not announced when the season will start.
