The Quinte region has broke another pandemic record, in the first day of the third province-wide shutdown.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported 22 new COVID-19 cases today. That brings the total of active cases to 107, a number that has not been seen since the start of the pandemic.
Staff note that three people are now in hospital, with two in ICU.
A total of four outbreaks have been identified:
- 1 case connected to a workplace in Quinte West
- 3 cases connected to a workplace in Trenton
- 5 cases connected to a workplace in Belleville.
- 4 cases connected to a school/child care facility. Health unit has not identified the specific place.
Here are the locations of the active COVID-19 cases that are currently reported:
- 38 in Quinte West
- 36 in Belleville
- 10 in Tyendinaga & Deseronto
- 2 on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
- 13 in Central Hastings
- 1 in North Hastings
- 7 in Prince Edward County
Hastings Prince Edward District School Board released a letter today that said that a student at Queen Victoria School in Belleville has tested positive for the virus. A letter is being sent to out and high-risk contacts have been contacted by public health. The school will be open on Tuesday after the Easter long weekend.
A total of 33,280 vaccines have been administered in the region, with 2,089 people fully vaccinated.
Since the start of the pandemic, HPEPH has identified 565 cases of COVID-19, with 449 recoveries. There have been 44 variants of concern. Six people have died from the virus.
