Loyalist College students are now helping to administer COVID-19 vaccines at the mass immunization clinic on campus.
The College has announced in a statement this morning, that they will by supervised by College faculty as they work to assist Hastings Prince Edward Public Health get shots into arms.
Loyalist students involved in this initiative are in the Practical Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Paramedic programs.
“It is truly remarkable to witness our students, the future of our health care workforce, apply their skills and knowledge to advance one of the most critical mass immunization movements of our time. Since the Immunization Centre opened its doors at Loyalist College on March 1, over 90 students have supported clinic operations. We’re so proud of them and grateful to HPEPH for entrusting our students to share responsibility for vaccine administration. They’re well prepared to meaningfully contribute to our health care ecosystem, which is critical to our collective well-being, quality of life and economic stability,” said Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, Loyalist College President and CEO.
The College notes that roughly 20 graduating students have been hired by the health unit to work at the vaccine clinic in the Trenton arena.
Those assisting on the vaccine site in Belleville include students from programs like Security and Investigation, Social Service Worker, and Business.
