The Tragically Hip certainly don’t have a shortage of material, and earlier this year Rob Baker mentioned in a few interviews that they’ve been going through and seeing what’s there.
The Kingston band has announced a new record featuring six previously unreleased tracks.
The project is called Saskadelphia, and will be released tomorrow.
The name was the working title for their sophomore album, that would later be known as Road Apples. The band is celebrating the 30th anniversary of that chart topping album this year.
“We didn’t know what was there, so this meant baking them and listening to them as they were being transferred. Hearing them for the first time in 30 years was crazy,” said Johnny Fay.
Here’s what is on Saskadelphia:
1. Ouch – “I went ‘Wow’ when I heard ‘Ouch’ after all this time. We were a pretty good little band,” added Rob Baker.
2. Not Necessary
3. Montreal – A song the band says was written shortly after the 1989 massacre at Ecole Polytechnique. This version was recorded live in Montreal, December 2000.
4. Crack My Spine Like a Whip
5. Just As Well
6. Reformed Baptist Blues
