Moderna has released an update about how effective their COVID-19 vaccine is for teens.
The Massachusetts-based company says that their preliminary study shows that their vaccine is effective for teens age 12 to 17.
Moderna says they studied 3,700 teens in that age group. Researchers found that the vaccine provides the same amount of immune protection in teens as adults.
The company plans to submit its information to Health Canada and other global regulators early next month.
Here in Ontario, students aged 12 to 17 are now eligible to book a vaccine appointment, but only for the Pfizer BioNTech shot.
The team at Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is currently in the process of finalizing plans to offer specialized youth clinics. Details will be announced later on.
