The Quinte Home Builders Association has received $171,500 from the provincial government to continue to support the skilled trades.
Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith made the announcement on Friday at Dewal Place, a site in Belleville’s west end where new homes are being built.
The funding from the province’s Skilled Development Fund will help the QHBA with their “Build Your Home in the Bay of Quinte” project, as well as develop an online resource that connects job seekers with employers.
“We’ve been working with organizations like Loyalist College, to make it easier for our young people and those looking to get into a second career to get in to the trades,” said Smith
He adds that they also hope to attract more women, indigenous people, and those from racialized communities, to get into the trades as they have been underrepresented for years.
