Here is how you can help this week:
- The National Air Force Museum of Canada needs visitor hosts at its museum in Trenton. Hosts will interact with visitors, provide directions, answer questions about the exhibits, and ensure visitors follow museum protocols. If you have knowledge about aviation history or science and technology, this may be an ideal opportunity for you.
- The Prince Edward Learning Centre needs volunteers at its Good Food Market. Duties include setting up the weekly market, greeting shoppers, and helping with clean-up. Volunteers also are needed to do COVID screening, to be personal shoppers, or delivery drivers.
- The Central Hastings Support Network is seeking volunteer drivers to take clients to and from appointments. Trips may be local or long distance, including Kingston and Toronto. Drivers use their own vehicles and are compensated through a pre-set mileage fee.
- If you enjoy bingo, the Lions Hall in Belleville needs volunteers to help with its afternoon and evening bingo programs. A typical shift is three hours. All funds raised support programs at various agencies in the community.
- Community Care Central Hastings is seeking a volunteer receptionist at its Tweed office. This position involves general office duties, answering phones and directing calls. There’s a flexible time commitment and training will be provided.
- Community Visions and Networking Quinte promotes social inclusion and provides support for developmentally challenged and deaf clients. Volunteers are needed to help organize events, including a boat cruise, road trips, picnics, concerts and other special occasions. Their office is on Charles Street in Belleville.
- The Alternatives for Women team is committed to breaking down the barriers faced by women and their children as they leave abusive relationships. If you have time to spare, volunteers are needed to provide child-care, transportation within Prince Edward Country, to sort donations for clients, and to assist with a variety of events.
- The Prince Edward Learning Centre needs volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with adult students. The Centre is located on Main Street in Picton. Tutors must be at least 19 years old. Tutors are needed for subjects including reading, writing, numeracy, and communication.
- Volunteer receptionists are needed at the Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors office in Picton. Computer experience is a must. Training and orientation will be provided. They also need volunteers to work in its Thrift Shop. The time commitment is a three-hour shift per week.
- The Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre provides a range of primary health services to its clients. These include diagnostic testing, pre- and post-natal care, and health promotion. The Centre has a branch on Bridge Street West in Belleville and on Catherine Street in Trenton. They are looking for individuals to offer programs in nutrition, health and physical activity.
