Prince Edward County is looking to hear from local residents, as staff develop a community plan.
“A 10-year vision and plan for Prince Edward County – created in collaboration with the community – has never been done. With so many urgent and important conversations happening right now, it is time to start building a long-term vision together to guide current and future Councils and staff,” said Mayor Steve Ferguson, in a statement
County staff note that there are five areas surrounding the community plan conversation:
- Strengthening County government’s engagement with the public
- Diversifying the County’s economy while preserving its historic character
- Aligning infrastructure investments and fiscal policy priorities
- Harnessing the benefits of tourism to improve residents’ quality of life
- Responding to the climate emergency and reduce the challenges faced
Residents will start to see a survey in the mailbox shortly. People can also provide feedback by filling out the survey on the county’s online engagement site, Have Your Say.
The County plans to hold community town halls on the topic. A community organizations focus group will take place on Tuesday, February 28 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wellington Arena. A Business focus group will take place also at the Wellington Arena, on Wednesday, March 1 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
A town hall for everyone is scheduled on Monday, February 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Picton Town Hall.
The community plan will go to Council towards the end of March.
