It’s Emergency Preparedness Week.
The City of Belleville and the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward is reminding everyone about the need to create a emergency plan pets in the home.
“There are many ways to prepare yourself and your family for any potential emergencies, including having an evacuation route and 72-hour emergency kit. However, it is also important to have a plan for the feathered, furry and/or scaly members of your family. Making sure your pet is properly identified with a collar or microchip, having a pet-specific emergency kit and having an evacuation plan for your pet are all ways you can make sure they are not left behind,” said Belleville Fire Chief Dan Smith, in a statement released by the City today.
