It’s the season of setting goals with renewed energy and hope. If you’d like to volunteer in 2024… then Volunteer Information Quinte can find the right fit for you.
Here is the VIQ Update for this week:
– The Regent Theatre in downtown Picton, is a great place to get your volunteer hours if you are a high school student. They are looking for some people to do some off jobs.
-The Alternative’s for Women team needs folks to help maintain buildings and programming. Tasks include child care, driving people in Prince Edward County, sorting donations, and assisting with events.
-Links to Learning is seeking volunteers for their tutoring programs. Volunteers assist children with reading following a set curriculum. Tutoring takes place Monday and Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Training is provided onsite and high school students are welcome.
-Habitat For Humanity ReStore in Belleville is looking for people who can help out. They need people in customer service roles, and helping with donations and floor displays.
-If you like to drive, then Community Care South Hastings needs you. They need people who can drive clients. Mileage will be reimbursed and training and orientation is provided. They also need people to assist with their Meals on Wheels program. Meals are delivered to seniors Monday to Friday from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Drivers must have their own vehicle. The Schedules are flexible.
-Prince Edward Community Care is looking for people to help out in the Thrift Shop in Picton. Shifts are either 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Orientation and support is available. Prince Edward Community Care is also looking for volunteers who can phone seniors. The time commitment is 1 hour a week. They also need drivers to help seniors get to medical appointments and out for essential shopping. Drivers are particularly needed in Picton. Volunteers are contacted 2-3 days before a trip. Prince Edward Community Care also needs help at their reception desk. This volunteer position can be three hours a week.
-Catherine’s Kitchen in Quinte West is looking for some help with food prep, serving and clean up. Shifts are from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 pm. There are on-call positions and scheduled positions.. Catherine’s Kitchen runs from Monday to Thursday.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
