A Day of Summer Fun for the Whole Family
Get ready for a fantastic day of family fun in the sun! Lower Trent Conservation is thrilled to invite you to SUMMERFEST, a celebration packed with exciting activities for everyone! Mark your calendars for July 31st, and from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, grab your family, friends, and a picnic, and join us at the stunning Goodrich Loomis Conservation Area for an unforgettable summer extravaganza! “There’s nothing quite like spending a summer’s day outdoors, surrounded by nature and enjoying fun activities with family and friends,” says Nicholas Reynolds, Education and Outreach Technician for Lower Trent Conservation “We are excited to bring the community together for a day of games, crafts, hikes, and learning. It’s a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of Goodrich Loomis Conservation Area and create lasting memories.”
Staff will have a variety of games and craft activities that are perfect for all ages. Whether you’re a child or simply young at heart, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Event Highlights:
- Guided Hike at 1 PM: Lace up your hiking boots and join us at 1 PM for a guided adventure through the scenic trails of Goodrich Loomis Conservation Area. Discover the beauty of nature and learn about the local flora and fauna.
- Creek Dipping Display: Dive into the hidden world beneath the water’s surface with our creek dipping display. See what critters call the stream home and learn all about their roles in the ecosystem.
- Invasive Species Table: Get up close and personal with various invasive species at our informative display. Learn about the impact these species have on our local environment and what you can do to help.
- Turtle Table: Visit the turtle table to learn about the different species of turtles in our area, their habitats, and the conservation efforts in place to protect them.
- Bird Feeder Making Kit: Get creative and make your own bird feeder using shortening, bird seed, pine cones, string, and a stick.
