VIQ is the agency that connects volunteers with organizations in need.
Here is the VIQ update on 91X:
*Community Development Council of Quinte, known as CDC Quinte, is seeking volunteers to assist with packing food boxes. Duties include packing boxes, inspecting items to ensure quality and numbers. Volunteers can also choose to assist with loading boxes on trucks or in customers’ vehicles. Time commitment is from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. , on the second and forth Tuesday of each month.
*Catharine’s Kitchen located in Quinte West is seeking volunteers to assist with food preparation, serving, and clean up. Shifts are from 8:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. There are also on-call positions. The program runs from Monday to Thursday.
*Gleaners Food Bank is seeking volunteers to pack food hampers, distribute hampers to clients during pick up times, assist with calls and driver items to community members. The time commitment varies with each position, Monday to Friday.
*Grace Inn Shelter in downtown Belleville is seeking kitchen volunteers. Orientation and training provided. The day shift is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the evening shift is from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
*The Open Door Café in Eastminster United Church in Belleville, is looking for volunteers to assist with the kitchen cleanup. The time commitment is Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
*Trenton Care and Share Food Bank is looking for people to help out at the reception desk. Duties include handling phone calls, e-mails and booking appointments.
*The Enrichment Centre is seeking volunteers to transport prepared food. The driver will provide the vital service of transporting daily meals from Bridge Street United Church to 125 South Church Street, for distribution. Duties include loading your personal vehicle with totes containing frozen soups, sandwiches and dessert items, then unloading and help to put food away in designated areas and return the totes to Church.
*St. Vincent De Paul in Belleville is currently seeking volunteers to assist with driving their truck to pick-up donations and deliver items to individuals in the community. Volunteers must be able to drive a cube truck and able to lift furniture. Morning and afternoon shifts are required.
*Food for Learning is seeking volunteers for their breakfast and lunch programs in schools. Volunteers can assist with preparation of breakfast, lunch, and/or snacks to serve to children. Other duties include assisting with food prep, setup, and cleanup. Time commitments vary on availability and school location. Opportunities are available at schools across Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
*Belleville Quinte West Community Health Centre is a community-based primary health organization that provides a wide range of programs and services to improve the health and well-being of people who live in the community. The Centre has a site in Quinte West and Belleville. They are currently seeking individuals who have an idea for an activity and are interested in giving their time to provide programs focusing on access to food, physical activity or social well-being.
*VON HNP is seeking Adult Day Program Entertainers. They are seeking talented people to entertain clients with Alzheimer’s and dementia at the Belleville Adult Day Program. Musicians, singers, dancers, this is open to groups or individuals.
*Canadian Blood Services is seeking volunteers to assist at their Mobile Clinics duties include supporting donors pre and post donations. All volunteers will support providing refreshments to donors and ensuring all donor safety post donation. Orientation and training provided.
*Abbeyfield House Society of Prince Edward County is looking for a director of grants and fundraising on their Board of Directors. Volunteers will work with the Board of Directors to identify projects, research and apply for potential grants, ensure all reporting requirements are met, and keep records of all fundraising and grant activities and ensure they are filed appropriately.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
