The Quinte region continues to battle a high levels of respiratory illness.
H.J. McFarland Memorial Home in Picton has confirmed today, that they have a facility-wide respiratory outbreak.
Face masks are now mandatory for staff and visitors at the long-term care home until further notice. Those with respiratory symptoms are asked to avoid visiting at this time. Large group activities are cancelled, however small group activities continue.
The exact type of outbreak has not been revealed
Meanwhile in Cobourg, Northumberland Hills Hospital has confirmed that a COVID-19 outbreak impacting their Restorative Care and Palliative Care Unit has been declared over. The outbreak was first declared on December 17th. Staff say that they continue to pause all group activities, and meals in the group dining room area as a precaution. However, the mandatory face mask policy has been lifted.
