
There are lots of volunteer opportunities this time of year.
Volunteer Information Quinte is the organization that connects people up with organizations in need of support. Especially high school students in need of volunteer hours.
Here is the VIQ update for this week.
*The Trenton Care and Share Food Bank is looking for volunteers for their Coldest Night of the Year Fundraiser on February 28. Volunteers are needed from 3-7 pm to assist with setup, checking in walkers, and providing guidance along the 5k route. Training is provided onsite.
*West Lake Terrace in Picton is looking for volunteers to visit with residents for an hour per week. Time of day is flexible, and training is provided.
*Quinte Health is seeking volunteers for their Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary Boutique. Volunteers provide courteous customer service, arrange shelves, and conduct sales in the shop. Payment is cashless, and shifts are 10-1 and 1-4 on weekdays.
*Community Living Prince Edward is looking for volunteers to instruct healthy eating/cooking programs. Instructors will be trained in the curriculum provided by Community Living and supported throughout. The program is expected to run once a week, about 1.5-2 hours per session. No formal experience is required.
*Foundations Youth Centre is looking for volunteers for their Youth Room in Tweed. Volunteers provide a nutritious snack and refreshment to youth attending; assist with arts and crafts, homework and projects; and support youth in planning and organizing community events. This Program operates Monday to Wed 5pm to 7pm, Thursday and Friday from 5pm to 9 pm.
*The Children’s Safety Village is seeking volunteers for their Fundraising Committee. Members contribute ideas, assist with donor outreach, support events and campaigns, and help identify new sponsorships, grants, and community partnerships. They review fundraising plans, provide feedback on opportunities, and act as ambassadors in the community by promoting the Village’s programs and impact. Members are expected to bring enthusiasm, reliability, and a commitment to helping secure the resources needed to sustain and grow CSV’s free safety education programs for children.
*Community Recreation Association of CFB Trenton is looking for facility attendant volunteers to greet and assist visitors in the recreational facility; provide information about programs, schedules, and amenities; help maintain cleanliness and organization in common areas; support staff with light setup and takedown for activities or events; monitor public spaces to ensure safety and adherence to facility rules; and offer general customer service and direct inquiries to appropriate staff. Weekday and weekend shifts are available during the days and evenings.
*St. Vincent de Paul thrift store is looking for volunteers to assist with pickups and deliveries of furniture to support their organization. Tasks also include assembling furniture and basic maintenance. There are driving and non-driving roles available, with full G and clean driving abstract requirements for drivers. Hours and scheduling are flexible.
*Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association is looking for reception volunteers to assist in their fast-paced office. Positions are 3 hours per week, training is provided, and staff support is available.
*The Community Development Council of Quinte (CDC) is seeking volunteers to pack their Good Food Boxes. Volunteers help maintain the CDC’s high standards of quality and consistency in packing. Volunteers can choose to assist with loading boxes onto the truck or in customer vehicles. Good Food Boxes are packed on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.
*Madoc Public Library is seeking a volunteer for organizing and shelving library materials. Volunteers are required to provide a vulnerable sector check and complete accessibility training. Weekday and weekend shifts are available for days and evenings.
*Crown Ridge Place Long Term Care Home is seeking volunteer porters to bring residents to and from the home’s hair salon Tuesdays through Fridays each week. A criminal record check and TB skin test are required.
*Museums of Prince Edward County are looking for volunteers to dress in period costume and assist with the interpretation of the museum and the objects/exhibits on display. Positions are available at: Macaulay Heritage Park, Picton and Ameliasburgh Historical Museum. Training is provided.
*Hastings Centennial Manor is looking for volunteers to help with mending and sewing for residents of the Manor. Sewing buttons, zippers, and other general mending is required. Volunteers should have experience using a sewing machine and some basic knowledge of repair.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
