
It’s National Volunteer Week!
Volunteer Information Quinte is the organization that connects locals will to help, with organizations that could use them!
Here’s the VIQ Update for this week:
* Pathways to Independence is looking for volunteers to offer friendly visits to individuals in their supported homes by reading, playing games, sharing stories, and socializing. Spend a few hours a month establishing relationships and connecting!
*Alternatives for Women in Prince Edward County are searching for volunteers to help organize donated items to ensure supplies are readily available for clients. Volunteers must be able to physically lift and move small items donated and assess which items are lacking or are in excess.
*St. Vincent de Paul is seeking warehouse helper volunteers to assist with accepting incoming donations, sending these donations upstairs, assembling furniture, minor fixes, and more. Volunteers also have some interaction with customers and must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Flexible scheduling for shifts is available.
*VON Hastings, Northumberland, Prince Edward is looking for volunteer drivers to assist clients to medical appointments, shopping, and other errands. Drivers must have their own vehicle, but mileage is reimbursed monthly. Drives are local and long distance, at the discretion of each volunteer and their availability.
*The Prince Edward Learning Centre is seeking volunteer tutors for their adult learning program. Tutors work one-on-one with adult students to assist with developing literacy, writing, numeracy, or communication skills and/or high school credits.
*The Stirling Musical Instrument Lending Library (Stirling MILL) is looking for volunteers to transport instruments between the Stirling MILL and their partner library locations across Hastings and Prince Edward counties. A vehicle is required.
*The Community Development Council of Quinte is seeking volunteers to pack Good Food Boxes. Volunteers can also choose to assist with loading the boxes onto the delivery truck as well as into customers’ vehicles. Boxes are packed on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, from 7:30 am to about 12:30pm.
*Kentwood Park Nursing home in Picton is looking for volunteers to assist residents to play bingo on Thursday evenings from 6- 7:30 p.m.
*The Community Recreation Association, CFB Trenton, is looking for volunteers to assist with
leading activities for youth aged 6-12 in sports, drama, art, science, etc. programs on weekdays
or weekends.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
