Here is the VIQ Update for this week:
*Community Development Council (CDC) Quinte is looking for volunteer drivers and drivers’ assistants to pick up and deliver Good Food Boxes, loading up delivery trucks and unloading after arrival at the destination site. Volunteers are needed on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, starting at 7:30 and typically ending around 4:30. Drivers must have a clean driving abstract, and both drivers and assistants need to be able to lift 50lbs.
*Highland Shores Children’s Aid is looking for volunteers to join their Board of Directors. Applicants must reside within Hastings, Prince Edward or Northumberland Counties and should have a passion for serving children, youth and families. Professional experience in finance, human resources, social services, law, education, EDI (equity, diversity and inclusivity), and services to support people with developmental disabilities or mental health concerns are also considered assets. The Board meets 10 times per year.
*Heart of Hastings Hospice is looking for volunteers to assist with gardening at their Madoc location. Hours are flexible based on volunteer availability.
*Gateway Community Health Centre is seeking volunteers to accompany participants of their Pole Walking program as they walk along the trails/streets of Tweed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Volunteers help distribute poles, take attendance, and help new members learn the skills of pole walking.
*St. Vincent de Paul is looking for volunteer event planners to assist in the organization and execution of a fundraising event in Belleville. Volunteers support event logistics, coordination, and planning while working with team members to raise funds for essential programming.
*H.J. McFarland Memorial Home is looking for volunteers to assist residents to and from the home’s barber shop on the last Monday of every month, from 9-11 am. Volunteers visit with residents while they wait to have their hair cut.
*Community Living Prince Edward is looking for social volunteers who would like to share interest/hobbies with their clients to build relationships and share skills. This position is ideally ongoing.
*Quinte Health is seeking volunteers for their Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary Boutique. Volunteers provide courteous customer service, arrange shelves, and conduct sales using a cashless payment system. Shifts are 10-1 and 1-4 on weekdays.
*The Prince Edward Learning Centre is looking for volunteer tutors for their Adult Learning Program. Volunteers work one-on-one with adult students to complete reading, writing, numeracy, communication, and/or high school credits.
