Striking workers with Community Living Prince-Edward are no long picketing outside Loyalist College.
The Quinte Labour Council has confirmed on social media this morning, that OPSEU Local 448 is now picketing at the Community Living main office in Picton daily.
The move comes after clients with Community Living Prince Edward, were moved from the Residence at Loyalist College, back to their group homes,
The City of Belleville has confirmed that Belleville Transit buses have resumed coming onto campus at Loyalist.
Thousands of social service workers across Ontario, represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, have been on strike since last Monday, advocating for better wages and working conditions.
Community Living Prince-Edward issued a statement late last week regarding the labour dispute, saying that it made difficult but necessary decisions to temporary move clients. Staff add that the decision was made out of concern for the safety and privacy of clients and to make sure there was no picketing activities near people’s personal homes.
