The Ontario SPCA currently has the most animals in its care at one time, in the past five years.
Staff say that with the record number, they will be hosting Fall Adoption days at 13 Ontario SPCA centers this Friday and Saturday.
Over 650 animals are in need of new homes.
Adoption fees for Friday and Saturday will be reduced by 15%.
The closest Ontario SPCA Centre to Belleville, is Napanee.
